Bonnie & Joel's Excellent Adventures

Amsterdam Day 1

Or day 2 if you want to be factual. We did land early yesterday, Saturday, got to the hotel by taking the 397 bus from the airport. Of course the room was not ready at 10:30 ish so we dropped off the bags and found our favorite pancake shop for breakfast/lunch/dinner, hard to tell what time zone we were in, good thing that pancakes are an any meal food!

During our pancake fest the hotel called to say our room was ready. We made a quick stop at a nearby cheese shop

and meandered back to the hotel and promptly fell asleep. Pretty much slept through the afternoon and night.

Sunday morning we were up and out after coffee, tea and pancakes. We were looking for a museum to visit because it was cool and drizzling, perfect weather for visiting museums. Van Gough was already sold out, but right next door was one we had never visited, the Stedelijk Museum which was modern art. We spent most of the day there and wandered around the central city for a while before taking a ferry across the river to get to an early dinner at The Stork Cafe.

The building on the right was dated 1644, out of plumb all that time.

Mobile home, Dutch style

A nice walk back to the hotel and our day was done. Bonnie’s fitbit says we covered over 22,855 steps today so we may have worked off one pancake.

Hey Travis! Pancakes in the Netherlands are like crepes in France. They are served mostly for breakfast and are either savory or sweet. They are a must!
