Bonnie & Joel's Excellent Adventures

Queenstown – Lakes District

Even though Queenstown is the “thrill” capital of NZ, still no bungee jumping! A big holiday destination of about 25,000 permanent residents. We are booked into the Hidden Resort hosted by Claudia, with a view of Lake Wakatipu.

Queenstown is a city full of youth. A busy downtown with all sorts of food choices, our first stop is Fergburger. For a sample of the best burgers in NZ.

It’s a city environment like no other. Beautiful waterfront, gondola going up a steep hill, where hang gliders come soaring down to landing fields in the midst of the city’s parks.

We are here during the hottest part of the summer so far, so a ton of water activity, but the lake is so big it seems like there is very little activity. Calm waters and beautiful light have provided plentiful photo ops. On the drive towards the end of the lake to Glenorchy we find the photo that captures NZ in the best light.

On our second day in town, we were able to partake in one of Bonnie’s favorite activities…house snooping! We toured a model home for a builder in a new area going up around the airstrip where the skydivers launch & land.

After dinner at Alex’s favorite food stop on the tour, Flame, we head out to our final stop on our Tour d’NZ. A farm stay in Fairley.
