Dinner first night was at Ceviches in Soho. Recommended by Sarah & Jared. 👍🏼👍🏼. Started with the classic Pisco Sour and sea bass ceviche. Was followed by prawn ceviche, quinoa salad, grilled octopus and fire roasted beef and corn cakes so good we had to order it twice. Chased down with Peruvian beer. No room for dessert but plenty to walk off back to the hotel.
Sorry no photos from lunch on day two in London. Not that we didn’t have a great meal of traditional fish and chips with mushy peas at Poppies, but I got so distracted by the stories from Poppy and his head fishmonger Salih that I did not get the job done on photos. Suffice it to say, best fish and chips ever and the mushy peas is now a redeemed dish since the last time we had them in Guernsey we ended up quarantined for 24 hours in our cruise ship room. Best I can do is share a photo of the London Lager in a Poppies glass that washed it all down.
Dinne on night two is another story. We had a fine Indian meal at Chutney Mary’s on very posh St. James Street. Just a few blocks from Buckingham Palace. We were seated next to two British journalists. One was half American, his mother was from Kentucky although no hybrid US Southern/English accent was discerned. He tried to say he that he covered politics, but his mate let on that he was a gossip columnist, similar to what you would see on Page Six of the NY Post. I think he needed a better wing man but back to dinner. Best Indian food we have ever had! Started with Baked Venison Samosa, followed with Lamb Shank and Slow Cooked Curried Prawns with rice and very spicy golden dal accompanied by two bowls of the best naan ever. We even tried their version of a brûlée for dessert with cardamon ice cream. Waddled home to the hotel and tried to sleep it off. Off to Florence on Thursday.
Glad to hear you aren’t have any fun and have had to endure yucky “British” food. Looking for ward to more news for Italy.
