Bonnie & Joel's Excellent Adventures

St. John Favorite from October 2012

The Babs Becomes a Star at Maho Bay

Barbara took control of the camera yesterday, seems that on past BJ ( stands for that prehistoric time of Before Joel) vacations, Barbara was rarely given the camera due to some “artistic” differences. Today as she sat on the beach fully geared with her geek tech toys, she became auteur. Her first shot….

We believe she was going for an instructional look on how to protect yourself from sun damaged lips while still looking gorgeous…girl!

Next up…..a riff on Jacque & Jane Cousteau or was it an homage to James Bond films…you decide

And her final short, a nature study of one of her favs at Maho, the Pelican. Dozens of these auditioned for the role and here is the new star with her red carpet moment….Fashion Police reviews of the outfit?

Between filming, Barbara became the official greeter and chief yenta-er as taxi loads of cruisers from the St. Thomas port ferried over for a taxi tour of St. John. Most folks were from the Blake Shelton Carnival Cruise ship. I am betting that Maho with Queen Barbara was their favorite stop on the tour.

Interesting tidbits from the yenta-ing….Blake stayed on the ship two days and was quite the guy, hanging by the pool mingling with other cruisers and yes he was drinking most of the time..Miranda was not with him…they were leaving port at 6PM and arriving in Tortola BVI at 1PM the next afternoon, which was really difficult for us to fathom since St. John and St. Thomas are about equidistant from Tortola and the ferry ride we were on lasted a half hour…go figure.

As the taxi pulled away, Hamilton the driver-guide, got on his loudspeaker and thanked Barbara and bid adieu…seriously the guy gave Barbara a shout-out!

A highlight on a day that included swimming with sea turtles, tarpon and calamari….and then an evening lightening show in the sky over St. Thomas.

Oh and we spotted the Blake Shelton Carnival cruise ship passing from the balcony of the villa…it was headed the opposite direction of Tortola..
